Happy New Year!

Can you even believe that it's 2015 already? Omiword, I cannot. But I'm excited to welcome the New Year and have some new adventures! I just know that there are things to learn and people to meet and things to create!

Tonight I'm linking up with Farley over at OhBoyFourthGrade for Currently. Such fun!

So here's my story...

Listening: Our current favorite Pandora station is Hipster Cocktail Party... we love it! It's a great assortment of all kinds of music from several different decades. Check it out!

Loving: Especially after our harrowing accident, I'm loving every moment I get to spend with my sweet husband and our four wonderful children.  We've been relaxing as much as possible, and that includes doing puzzles and playing games, cooking and eating together, and watching tons of movies. Nothing matters more to me than my family and I am extremely grateful we've all been together during the break.

Thinking: Oh, good heavens!I have so much that I had planned to do during the Winter Break. And so many things that I wanted to do... and pretty much none of it has gotten done. I had fabulous plans for sewing, reading, baking, shopping, day trips to beaches and museums, extra sleep... not to mention all the work I wanted to do for school! But in addition to all of that, there are some things that I really MUST get done before school starts. So that's what will probably take priority these next few days. It's starting to feel like a Sunday night!

Wanting: Haha. I want another week of break. Anyone else with me?! Haha. I love my kiddos at school, but I could really use a little more time off! And while I'm listing semi-random, less-than-likely-to-happen-this-week "wants," I want to be sure to include some new Uggs. I've been living in my Uggs for the last couple of weeks. It's been chilly (only by California terms! You Wisconsinites would be in your flip flops!) and I've barely taken them off. And okay... what else do I want? Oh, how about a trip to Europe?! I'm really, really hoping that the Hubs has another trip for work, and that I can figure out how to tag along. Want. Want. Want. Gimme.

Needing: A car. And sleep. Our car was totaled and we're still waiting for the insurance check. We've got a nice rental car that we can keep for up to a month or something like that, but I'm eager to get our own car and put this whole incident behind us. Haha. Makes me thing of Pumbaa in the Lion King saying, "You gotta put your behind in the past!" Off topic. Giggle. It's probably my lack of sleep making me quote "The Lion King!" I just haven't been able to sleep well for a week or so, and last night was especially sleepless, since we had to pick up kids from various places at 9pm, 2am and 8 am. Yikes.

For 2015, I'm saying "Yes!" to finding a new gym. We moved in August, and just haven't gotten around to it. We've hiked and biked and ran, but I'm feeling the need for some gym equipment, and access to some exercise no matter if it's dark or early or late or raining. I'm saying "maybe" to some surfing lessons. Just might be fun! And in my dreams, my job involves making big, Hollywood movies, or writing books or working at a newspaper or magazine. Yeah. Not gonna happen, and that's okay. My students would miss me!

Wishing you all the very best in 2015! Be safe, and may you have much health and happiness!

  1. Wow Melissa, I'm glad your family is all okay after the accident!! And taking time with your family is more important than getting that "to do" list done! I'll have to check out Hipster Cocktail Party! Happy New Year!!

  2. Hipster Cocktail Party made me laugh-I'm sure it's a great mix! I have always wanted to learn how to surf, now too far away from water-you should definitely go for that!
