Verb Charades and I Have/Who Has?

Confession: I am actually enjoying exploring the Common Core State Standards.

I've always been on the lookout for new ways to teach my students and to make our days of learning fun. And I look at our new Standards as a challenge. And who doesn't love a challenge?!

I created some activities to help my students learn to use verbs, thanks to my wonderful teammate who got me thinking about verbs last week!

I've created a couple of "I Have/Who Has?" games for my students in the last few months, and they absolutely love them. In fact, I often get a little extra mileage... We play one time, and then students trade cards with each other and we play again. Super fun!

I also included lots of cards to use for charades.

And that's not all! My students love their interactive journals, and I do, too! So I included an activity for those. My kiddos had lots of fun, and even wanted to add extra verbs to their journals!

Next week, we'll be working on Valentine's Day activities, as well as taking a few district assessments.

We're right in the middle of our "How To" Writing Workshop Unit, and it has been wonderful. I love to watch the students grow as writers, and I have seen so many improvements in their writing as we've progressed through the lessons. Here's a piece that one of my kindergartners did last week! Love it!

We'll be finishing up our "How To" writing next week so that we'll be ready to start on some opinion writing after our Winter Break!

Tons to do, as always! It's going to be a busy weekend! Enjoy, Friends!
