The Last Day of January... and the Last Day of The Week!

We had a pretty awesome week in my little old classroom, though I have to admit that a few things tried my patience a wee bit today. But my students are happy, they worked hard and accomplished a ton, and it's Friday! Yahoo! I wore jeans... and boots! Giggle!

Today we started our Chinese New Year celebration, which will continue into next week. More on that later... and I've got pictures! We also got the calendar ready for February, and I'm planning to post about that soon, too.

I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy 3rd Grade for "Currently."

Currently Feb 2014

Listening: We've got Pandora on, and Mary Lambert is singing. I'm a fan. I first heard her sing on one of Macklemore's songs over a year ago, and I liked it a lot. She's getting quite a bit of play time on the radio stations where I live, and I say, "Good for her!" This particular song, "She Keeps Me Warm," is a cousin of Macklemore's "Same Love," which he and Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert performed at the Grammy's. The hubs created this station, and I'm not sure how/why this song came up, but it works for me!

Loving: So apparently the break we had around Christmas wasn't called "Winter Break." It was called "New Year Break." And "Winter Break" is yet to come! Oh, YES! Two more weeks, and I get a week to rest and spend some extra time with my own children! I'm so excited!

Thinking: I always have a list of five million things that I want to do. No, not quite true. I usually have a few lists! I have projects to work on for school, plus some sewing, cooking and reading that I want to get done...craft projects, organizing projects, cleaning projects. A friend of mine said years ago that "sleep should be optional if you're a mom." Like if you have a list of five million things, you can stay up 24/7 and just work on crossing those things off! And lack of sleep? No problem, because you're a mom, and sleep is optional. You don't really need sleep, but if you want to sleep you can. Isn't that genius?! I WISH!

Wanting: I was shopping for the Hub's birthday the other day, and a beautiful, pink, Kate Spade purse yelled, "Buy me!" I didn't really feel like I could buy myself a present when it was his birthday, so I didn't. But the sound of that purse calling out to me has been echoing in my little head ever since. I want it. Pink! I don't have  a pink purse, and don't you think I should have one?!

Needing: Okay, it's probably a little more of a want than a need, if you really get down to it. But I'm going to say, "Need." It will relieve stress and give me the energy and inspiration I need to get through the next two weeks. A pedicure is like a mini-vacation for me!

Two truths and a lie: Hmmm.... any guesses?

I'm headed for bed, friends! I'm always so tired on Friday nights! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I'm going to guess that you are NOT baking cookies right now since it is so late! Glad I found your blog and stopped by to visit. I love finding new ones and have a wonderful weekend Melissa!

  2. The Kate Spade purse sounds fabulous! Pink is a great color! I've been trying hard not to buy any more black bags. Wow, two extra weeks off - I'm jealous! Enjoy!

  3. I say YES to that Kate Spade purse! She's my fave! :)

  4. I'm going to guess you hate Walnuts? They are sometimes quite bitter on their own, but I love me some Starbucks Banana Walnut Bread!! lol :) Happy Weekend!

  5. I guess that you're NOT baking cookies too! Love your blog header! :) :) TOO cute!!

  6. Thanks for visiting!

I WAS making cookies! And I did just buy books!

But I'm deathly allergic to walnuts, and I carry an epipen. I love to snack on cashews and macadamia nuts, though.

    Happy weekend!

  7. I, too, just spent around $80 on books! Love love love literacy :) I also love Kate Spade ;)
